Recently, Yageo and Rutronik reached a long-term agreement on the supply of MLCC and R-Chip for two years, according to which Rutronik will be able to supply these electronic components to customers by now until mid-2020.
The worldwide shortage of passive electronic components has become extremely severe: with rising global demand for new products in the fields of Smart Home, IoT-capable applications, Industry 4.0, and electric vehicles, long lead times are now the norm. As a result, manufacturing companies are having an increasingly difficult time planning their production.
In order to secure supplies of ceramic capacitors and resistors for its customers, Rutronik has entered into a long-term agreement with Yageo for these components, and as a result, can guarantee supplies through mid 2020. This will primarily benefit the distributor’s existing customers, who can now once again plan reliably.
As the demand for smart homes, loT applications, industrial 4.0 and new products in the field of electric vehicles continues to grow, passive electronic components are in short supply worldwide, and leadtime is getting longer and longer, made it difficult for end product manufacturers to plan production.
To ensure that customers have access to sufficient MLCC and R-Chip for production, Rutronik has signed a long-term supply agreement with Yageo for these components, enabling existing Rutronik customers to produce in a planned manner.
An Important Signal to Customers
“Securing supplies for our existing customers is our top priority. This is why we have reached an agreement with our reliable partner Yageo that takes this into account and helps our customers plan for the future,” said Stefan Sutalo, Product Marketing Director Passive Components at Rutronik. “When it comes to resistors and ceramic capacitors, Yageo has a global market share of over 25 percent and has significantly increased its production capacity over the last three years. In light of the current severe shortage of passive components, Rutronik’s customers will particularly benefit from this long-term agreement,” says Sutalo.
